The energy is electric.

I have never felt more proud to call myself a Chattanoogan. With new players on the City Council and a move for a greater consolidation between City and County governments, you can be assured Chattanooga is preparing herself for a grand and glorious future.

We have the next four years to continue the task of identifying the essential priorities that will ensure we are able to take the shrinking budget and invest in needed job creation, education, and recreation.

This is not an easy task and undoubtedly there will be some who do not fully agree with the direction the Council may take. This is understandable. But what is needed in this time is not continued arguments, what we need rather is a renewed faith we are seeking to move in a direction that will benefit the most with the all that has been entrusted to us.

This spirit of cooperation and understanding will yield new partnerships, greater productivity, and new hopes

And this will yet again prove we are entering a new age in the city of Chattanooga.

I wish to express my most heartfelt thanks to all who have chosen to put their faith in me by casting their vote. I am truly elated and equally humbled. It is both my sincere hope and will be the aim of my most untiring effort to prove worthy of your displayed trust by daily representing the needs of the entire district. Fairness, accountability and compassion will mark this new dawn of politics in District 8. We will begin a day where every community across this district will face our common concerns by learning to think, and feel, and act as one. Daily renewing this resolve let us work to build a newer, more better district and by extension a better Chattanooga.

Let’s go change our city.

The time has come. It is now time again to speak with our vote and not just our voice. We came to this place this past March, only to learn the mark was a little further than what we first realized. But instead of falling victim to doubt and dismay, each day has brought us a renewed strength, an increasing hope, and the gift of an ever-abiding faith.

We have come this far to discover this one important point: the future belongs to us. It is a future this time we will not be denied.

Just as no one cannot stop the sun above from shinning, though they have tried, they cannot stop a new dawn from coming to District 8.

We have sweated, we have toiled. We have persuaded, we have convinced.

Now to usher in this new era you must cast your vote.

Your vote promises to dissipate the last traces of darkness, causing the glory of a new day to break ever-more radiantly upon us. It is the dawn promising the warmth of safer communities, more long-lasting, family wage jobs, and more beautiful places to play.

Your vote is a yes to a future we all can embrace.

Your vote is the tool to make the place we call home the place of our dreams.

Your vote is a ray of sun.

Join us to celebrate this new day we all will share @ the John Henry Studio (1100 E. 16th St.) from 7PM-11PM.

I’ll see you there.

With peoples of the Jewish and Christian faiths around the world celebrating Passover and Easter, holidays which celebrate the stories of liberation, it is right to remember our own personal and community stories. The challenges we face as a district are many: ever-increasing crime, a struggling economy or even the housing crisis. These and many other challenges continue to press upon us and invite us to stop and reflect upon the multitude of lives that are affected by these issues day to day.

But if we learn anything from these holidays, it is the reality of hope.

These holidays teach us no matter the circumstance, no matter the challenges we are always surrounded by the evidence that when people come together and set aside their differences and unite together around their shared interests the darkness begins to dissipate and the dawn begins to to break upon us.

We are two days away from seeing the fulfillment of the hope that has been born over the course of this campaign.

Thank you for joining me in the journey.

30 days.

30 days to make phone calls to supporters and undecideds (and even win over a new supporter from the other side).

30 days to brave wind, rain, or heat to knock on doors and spread the message of why change so desperately needs to come to district 8.

30 days to remember our communities, schools, and businesses cannot not wait another 4 years to find the support they need. We have already waited 18 years for district wide representation. That is 18 years too long to wait to rid our neighborhoods of drugs, to ensure our young people receive the quality after-school and summer programming they need to succeed, and to bring quality long-lasting jobs to our district. We need change and we need change now.

It is quite a thought: 30 days to affect the next 4 years. Or 8 years. Or even 30 years.

All this reflecting reminds me that the efforts we have begun more than 3 months ago are not without purpose. We have not stepped out on this campaign trail only to make a name for ourselves or to simply to find something to do to pass the time. No, we are courageously embarking on one of the most pressing challenges before us all: to look reality in the eye with all its broken, disjointed pieces and armed only with faith in one another what tomorrow may hold, to begin the long, arduous work of creating something beautiful for all our communities. For our city. And for our children.

That is why I am in this race.

That is why we will continue to countdown until change comes.

30 days left to a new dawn.
